Spencer Ensemble

An atmospheric duo/trio/quartet

Covering Harrogate, Ripon, Leeds, York & surrounding areas

Featuring piano, guitar & vocals with optional bass and drums

The Spencer Ensemble are an adaptable group of musicians with many years experience performing in prestigious international venues. At the core, pianist Grant & guitar/vocalist Norrey have been working together as a duo for over 10 years and have performed at hundreds of high profile events.

Whether an intimate house party, sophisticated drinks reception, product launch, corporate event, gala dinner, wedding reception or birthday party with an impromptu dancefloor, we can provide the perfect blend of background music to set the atmosphere for your event. We can easily tailor our setlists and adapt to your brief including themes like Bond, the movies, musicals, Disney, Valentines, Christmas or any other special requests. We can also run an interactive music quiz or live musical bingo as post dinner/team building entertainment.

If you are short on space then the duo is ideal. For a trio we can add our wonderful sax player or fabulous bass player (on double bass or bass guitar) and for larger venues & livelier occasions we can add drums/percussion. All are amazingly talented & experienced professional players.

Our varied repertoire covers jazz, blues, swing, soul, pop and the odd unexpected gem from a wide variety of artists from the 1920's to the 2020's, keeping both young and old entertained. From Sinatra to Silk Sonic, Andy Williams to Adele, Dusty Springfield to Dua Lipa, Ella Fitzgerald to Elton to Elbow, Nat King Cole to Norah Jones and The Beatles to Billie Eilish & Becky Hill. Uniquely arranged in our very own style.

Live Musical Bingo

Add a splash of unique fun to your event...

Our live musical bingo rounds are the perfect option for after dinner entertainment, a party feature or a community fundraising event.

You'll all be given a bingo card with song names on. We play short excerpts from well-known songs. When you recognise the song you mark it off on your card. First to get a line wins! Very simple, easy and fun. The clips are designed to give those with a good musical knowledge a slight headstart but the majority will feature the title so even if you don't know the song you won't miss out and there's lots of opportunities to get involved and singalong.

We theme our rounds and have a large selection for you to choose from including Movie Themes, TV Themes, Singalongs, Musicals, Motown, Disco, Non-lexicable (songs with lala/nana/baba instead of lyrics), Lingo (songs in different languages) 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, Noughties, Food & Drink, Baby, Boys & Girls, Mr & Mrs, Colours, Places, Names, Animals, Weather...

We can also tailor to individual events. For example, if you're celebrating a big birthday or wedding anniversary we could do songs from the year you were born or were married, if you have a corporate event we could do songs based upon your particular theme.

Grant and Norrey met over 20 years ago and both share a love of music, food, comedy and films. Both instrumental teachers & regular performers, they started working as a duo and developed their unique sound & style together.

Grant trained at Leeds College of Music & the Guildhall London; his career highlights include supporting Elvis Costello in his punk days, accompanying jazz greats including Bobby Wellins, Pete King & Jim Mullen alongside solo piano work. Grant teaches both jazz & classical piano & examines for the Associated Board.

Norrey studied guitar and composition at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and has represented the UK from guitar festivals in Sweden to gigs across Europe and Australia. Classically trained, she mainly plays rock/jazz & blues these days and has a quirky youtube guitar channel.
